Pep Guardiola jokes next season’s target is just to score a GOAL away at Tottenham… as the Man City boss insists he won’t think about a Treble unless they win the FA Cup final

Pep Guardiola has joked that next season’s target for Manchester City will be to score a goal away at Tottenham, with the Spaniard insisting he will only consider a potential Treble should his side win the FA Cup final.

City have already clinched their fifth Premier League title in six seasons, with the club now closing in on a historic Treble.

Guardiola’s side will round off their league campaign with matches against Brighton and Brentford, before turning their attentions to the FA Cup final against arch rivals Manchester United on June 3.

The English champions will then travel to Istanbul with the aim of securing their first Champions League title, when they face Inter Milan on June 10.

Guardiola was asked by Sky Sports what his next challenge would be should Man City go on to complete a Treble.

City have endured a miserable away record against Spurs in recent years, losing on all of their five visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs 1-0 win over City in February meant that the visitors are still yet to score at the stadium since it opened back in 2019.

Guardiola stressed that his thoughts remain focused on City’s next objective, rather than potentially matching Manchester United’s Treble winning team of 1999.

‘I start to think about the Treble if we are able to go to Istanbul with two titles in the pocket, then I will concede if we win one more title we do it.

‘Look at United, it was once in a lifetime in the UK and the way they won the Camp Nou against Bayern Munich, I was there.

‘It is so difficult to do it, the last two finals we have will be terribly complicated.

‘I know United want to avoid it and Inter Milan is Inter Milan, so step by step.’

Guardiola could achieve the second Treble of his career should City lift both the FA Cup and Champions League in the coming weeks.

The Spaniard previously guided Barcelona to a Treble back in the 2008-09 season.
