If Pogba is not risked against Boro, he could come back into contention for next week’s Premier League fixtures against Burnley or Southampton.
Either way, the imminent return of Pogba will come as significant boost to United, who have been without their France midfielder since November.
Pogba hasn’t played for United since the 2-2 Champions League draw against Atalanta on November 2 after sustaining the injury during the previous international break.
The 28-year-old’s long-term future at Old Trafford is uncertain with his contract due to expire at the end of the season. Nevertheless, Rangnick is likely to rely on Pogba between now and the end of the campaign as he looks to guide United to a top-four finish.
