Manager Eddie Howe says he is ‘devastated’ for Newcastle fans following their 1-0 defeat by League One side Cambridge in the FA Cup.
Newcastle suffered the shocking defeat in front of more than 50,000 supporters at St James’ Park on Saturday evening.
As a result, Howe has won just one game since replacing Steve Bruce at the helm in November.

Joe Ironside’s 56th-minute opener for the visitors proved the only goal of the game, with Newcastle failing to turn home an equaliser much to the dismay of their supporters.
It was another blow for the Toon’s Saudi-backed billionaire owners, who are looking to add to Kieran Trippier’s arrival with further investment in this month’s transfer market.

Speaking after the game, Howe said: ‘We’re devastated for them (the Newcastle supporters).
‘A great atmosphere, incredible feeling all the way during the game, even when we went behind, really willing the team to find an equaliser.
‘It didn’t totally surprise me – since I’ve been here, that’s what the supporters have been like.
‘Devastated for them, feel their pain and it motivates me to try to repay their faith and their support by winning games very soon.’
Fans made their feelings about the result clear, taking to social media to share their thoughts.
One Newcastle supporter wrote: ‘I think the fanbase deserve an apology from the players and manager after this display today. #nufc’.
Another fan went a step further and and said: ‘100% and should refund 51,000 tickets. Embarrassing,’ referring to the fans who attended St James’ Park for their defeat.
A third commented: ‘In a long line of dark days, it doesn’t get much worse than today, for NUFC. Half of these fellas couldn’t get a game in Major League Soccer (in America).’
