‘How do you bottle playing in a final?’: Chelsea fans slam ‘EMBARRASSING’ Andreas Christensen after the Danish defender withdrew himself from Thomas Tuchel’s team just hours before their FA Cup final defeat by Liverpool

Chelsea fans have slammed outgoing defender Andreas Christensen after it was revealed that he pulled out of the starting XI for the FA Cup final just hours before the game.

Sportsmail reported that Christensen asked to be left out of the side to face Liverpool on Saturday despite not being injured – leaving his team-mates perplexed.

It is believed that the 26-year-old told Thomas Tuchel that he was not physically ready to play after feeling unwell in the previous days.

It would have been one of Christensen’s last games for Chelsea, as he will join Barcelona on a free transfer this summer.

It’s fair to say that Blues fans will be glad to see the back of him, with many taking to social media to attack the Dane for pulling out of the cup final.

‘How do you bottle playing in a final,’ one supporter tweeted.

‘Embarrassing mentality,’ another added.

‘This geezer is an embarrassment,’ echoed a third. ‘Break a leg.’

It is not the first time that Christensen has asked to be left out of the Chelsea team as he nears his departure.

He pulled out of the starting XI in the moments leading up to the 1-0 win over West Ham in April after suffering stomach cramps ahead of kick-off.

Four days earlier, Tuchel confirmed that the centre-back requested to be taken off at half-time in the 4-2 defeat to Arsenal.

‘Don’t want to be too harsh cos mental health and that but my word this guy’s track record of shying away and having “stomach aches” in big games is embarrassing,’ a Blues fan tweeted. ‘He’s Barca’s problem now anyways.’

Christensen also asked to be substituted at half-time in Chelsea’s defeat to Arsenal last month

The Danish defender has agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season

‘It’s insane how scared this guy is of being a footballer,’ another wrote. ‘Chalobah genuinely is clear off this f***y. How can Barca expect to pull up to El Clasico with this fairy?’

‘Barcelona fans are going to ruin this guy lol you’re in contention for a big game and a big send off and you can’t even be bothered,’ one supporter fumed. ‘What a b*****d.’

‘We’ve struck absolute gold with some of the players who want to leave this summer,’ another said. ‘What an absolute fairy.’

Academy graduate Christensen has been at Chelsea since the age of 15, but he probably won’t get the warmest of receptions if he ever returns to Stamford Bridge with Barca.
