Manchester City have scored 108 GOALS in cup competitions since Crystal Palace last netted in the Carabao or FA Cup… with Patrick Vieira’s men still looking for first cup goal in TWO AND A HALF YEARS!

Manchester City have netted on 108 occasions in their respective cup competitions since the last time Crystal Palace did so, it has been revealed.

The south London outfit’s misery in cup competitions continued on Tuesday night after their 1-0 defeat by Watford in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Patrick Vieira’s men are still therefore looking for their first goal in a cup competition since March 2019, when Michy Batshuayi scored in a 2-1 defeat by the Hornets in the quarter-final of the FA Cup at Vicarage Road.

Palace lost to Watford on Tuesday, meaning Patrick Vieira’s men are without a goal in a cup competition since March 2019

And according to football writer Richard Foster, Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions have scored more than 100 goals in cup matches in the same time period.

City have netted 26 goals in EFL Cup matches, 32 in the FA Cup and a further 50 in the Champions League in the same two-and-a-half-year period.

Guardiola’s men have gone on to win consecutive Carabao Cups in that time after beating Aston Villa and Tottenham in back-to-back finals, while they also thrashed Watford 6-0 in the final of the 2019 FA Cup.

City also made it to the semi-final of last season’s competition at Wembley and the final of the Champions League in 2020-21, before losing to Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea on both occasions.

Palace meanwhile have endured a wretched run in cup matches since March 2019. They were knocked out on penalties by Colchester in the second round of the League Cup in August 2019.

Five months later the Eagles suffered a shock home defeat by Derby County in the third round of the FA Cup after midfielder Luka Milovojevic was sent off.

Last September, Palace suffered yet more spot-kick heartbreak after losing 11-10 to Bournemouth, again in the second round of the EFL Cup.

They also exited the FA Cup in January at the same stage they did 12 months previously, with Wolves securing a win against them at Molineux thanks to Adama Traore’s first-half strike.
