Chelsea’s toothless display in the FA Cup defeat by Manchester City was laid bare by their dreadful xG stat.
Graham Potter’s side registered just 0.09 xG against City, their lowest total in the last five seasons across all competitions, as they were thrashed 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
The Expected Goals (xG) – a way of measuring how good the chances a team had were – says that Chelsea had 0.09 to Manchester City’s 2.82.

Kai Havertz was one of two Chelsea players to be substituted at half-time by Graham Potter
‘They’ve got to give the fans something now, show they care about this football club, because that 45 minutes was not acceptable.’
Both sides had made a number of changes – with Chelsea handing a debut to young centre-back Bashir Humphreys as one of six new faces after facing the same opposition three days previously.
But with pressure growing on Potter following a run of poor results, his side were unable to put in a strong enough performance to allow to sit any more comfortably in the dugout.
