FA CUP ROUND-UP: Giant-killers Yeovil punch up again by sinking boss Darren Sarll’s old side Stevenage as Kidderminster shock Halifax

Yeovil have made a habit of knocking EFL sides out of the FA Cup — and the National League side did it again, beating League Two strugglers Stevenage 1-0.

‘You have to enjoy every win because in the blink of an eye, that feeling is gone,’ said Yeovil boss Darren Sarll after the 21st upset in the club’s history.

Charlie Wakefield’s goal early in the second half was enough to give Sarll victory against his former side and put the Glovers into the hat for Monday night’s third round draw.

Yeovil Town’s exemplary record in the FA Cup continued with their victory over Stevenage

‘It’s extra special that it’s against my old club and we will take whatever comes now,’ he added. ‘It will be exciting to see what comes out of the hat. The players try so hard, there is so much that endears these players to the supporters.’

Sixth-tier Kidderminster dumped out Vanarama National League high-fliers Halifax with a 2-0 victory at Aggborough. Amari Morgan-Smith and Ashley Hemmings were on target.

The Worcestershire side have already dumped out two teams above them in the football pyramid after also beating Grimsby in the first round.

The National League North side were ahead in just the third minute when Hemmings drove to the by-line, crossed for Morgan-Smith and the former Luton forward steered home.

Darren Sarll got the better of his old club Stevenage and secured the 21st upset in their history

Hemmings turned from provider to scorer 14 minutes later when he took down Caleb Richards’ flick with his back to goal and fired past Sam Johnson to double the lead.

Substitute Luke Jephcott grabbed a late winner in a 2-1 victory for Plymouth at Rochdale. Midfielder Jordon Garrick put Plymouth ahead — Ryan Broom’s cross from the right picked out Garrick to power a header inside Jay Lynch’s near post.

Then Josh Andrews found Aaron Morley 25 yards from goal and the midfielder curled a superb finish into the roof of the net for the equaliser, before Jephcott’s strike.

Manager Simon Weaver hopes Harrogate Town are drawn against a top Premier League side after reaching the third round for the first time in the North Yorkshire club’s history.

Kidderminster Harriers of the sixth tier managed to upset National League side Halifax

Jack Diamond scored a dramatic late winner as the League Two side knocked out two-time winners Portsmouth 2-1 away. The on-loan Sunderland player scored five minutes into added time at Fratton Park.

‘It would be great for the club now to pull out one of the big boys,’ Weaver told BBC Radio York. ‘If you pulled out a Liverpool or Manchester City, let’s be honest, it would just absolutely be scenes of emotion within Harrogate.’

Callum Lang’s double earned Wigan a 2-1 win at Colchester. First he finished well from Gavin Massey’s precise cross and after Freddie Sears had equalised, Lang raced on to sub Tom Naylor’s pass and fired home.
