De Zerbi’s living the dream! Brighton boss says his best ideas come to him in his SLEEP and claims used to put a notepad and pen by his bed… with the Italian hoping to lead the Seagulls to FA Cup final against Manchester United

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has claimed his best ideas come to him in his sleep, ahead of the Italian attempting to mastermind a victory over Manchester United in their FA Cup semi-final.

The Seagulls will head into Sunday afternoon’s tie at Wembley seeking to reach the FA Cup final for only the second time in their history.

De Zerbi has earned praise for overseeing Brighton’s superb season since succeeding Graham Potter in September.

The Seagulls will be aiming to beat Man United on Sunday to earn a place in the FA Cup final

De Zerbi called on his players to embrace the pressure of being favourites for the semi-final

De Zerbi has now revealed that some of his best ideas have come to him while asleep.

‘The best ideas come exactly then, (in your dreams),’ De Zerbi said, as reported by the Sun.

‘Three or four years ago it happened that during the night I was waking up and writing down my ideas.

‘At Sassuolo, in the first season, I slept with a notepad and pen by my bed.’

De Zerbi’s ideas have helped Brighton to earn the scalps of Chelsea and Liverpool, twice each, and Arsenal during the season.

The 43-year-old has admitted his side will be unfazed by being installed as favourites for their FA Cup semi-final against Man United.

Brighton have been backed to reach the final following Man United’s shambolic 3-0 second leg defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk coach has urged his players to embrace the pressure of trying to take the club into a second FA Cup final, with the first ending in a 4-0 replay defeat to United 40 years ago.
