Manchester United supporters have reacted furiously to Edinson Cavani being handed extra time off after his exploits for Uruguay in World Cup qualifying.
Ralf Rangnick confirmed in his press conference earlier on Thursday that the veteran frontman has requested more days away, having played for his country.
His absence will mean that he is not available for selection against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Friday, and United fans have vented their anger on social media.
Manchester United fans have taken aim at Edinson Cavani after he requested more time off
One Twitter account posted: ‘He’s disrespected the club so much… but the fans love him because he does knee slides and shows passion.’
Another said: ‘Edinson taking the mick. Another waste of time player earning a six figure salary. Joke club.’

‘Cavani always with extended leaves. I am getting sick of it,’ said a third.
One account posted a photo of a text conversation between a short-staffed manager and an employee, and likened it to the situation involving Cavani.
‘Cavani when United need him to play more than once a month,’ the caption read.
‘Ridiculous tbh,’ was the verdict of another clearly-irked user.
‘Nah this Cavani guy p***** me off, man. How many f***** holidays does the guy need? His commitment to the club is atrocious but the fanbase s**** him off,’ a sixth said.
Cavani played in victories over Paraguay and Venezuela, and will now report back to Old Trafford later than initially planned, with permission from the interim boss.
‘Edi Cavani will only return at the weekend,’ Rangnick revealed. ‘He contacted me to ask if he could have two more days at home. He won’t be part of the group.’
Jesse Lingard was also afforded a longer break to ‘clear his mind’ after missing out on a deadline day move away, despite interest from Newcastle and West Ham.
