West Ham United are chasing down the signature of Lille midfielder Amadou Onana as boss David Moyes look to provide more squad competition.
The Scotsman watched the 20-year-old Belgian play against Chelsea in the Champions League last month, where the Blues walked away 2-0 winners at Stamford Bridge.
The French side have set a price tag of £20million for the rising star, but the Hammers have reportedly got money to splash this summer, according to the Sun.
West Ham are looking to sign Lille wonderkid Amadou Onana for £20million this summer
West Ham boss David Moyes has been keeping an eye on the 20-year-old (pictured, right) to bolster his squad competition
Onana has only broke his way into the Lille squad this season after signing the youngster from German side Hamburg, making 30 appearances in all competitions, and finding the net on two occasions.
Onana spent his youth career in Germany and made his professional debut for former club Hamburg back in September 2020 and has not looked back since.
He did however sign a five-year-deal when he made the switch to France, which will make it harder for Moyes’ side to snap him up, although they are keen to capture his signature before his continued development sees his price rise higher.
The Hammers are also interested in Chelsea forward Armando Broja, who is currently impressing out on loan at Premier League rivals Southampton.
West Ham are also targeting the signing of Southampton loanee Armando Broja from Chelsea
Broja scored against West Ham in the Saints FA Cup win in mid-week, which caught the eye of Moyes, who was already targeting the youngster.
West Ham are ready to offer £25million for the forward, but it seems unlikely that they will be able to tempt him away from the Blues, who value Broja at a much higher price – reportedly £70million.
The London Stadium know they need to use the summer transfer window wisely to improve their small squad to help with the burden of European football – providing they can qualify once again.
They currently sit fifth in the Premier League and are in the last-16 of the Europa League although they crashed out of the FA Cup this week.
It was a 1-0 defeat for West Ham against title chasing Liverpool on Saturday thanks to a Sadio Mane goal.
But the Hammers remain in the hunt for both the Champions League and Europa League.
