What’s been said?

Heading into the game, Ten Hag revealed that he is confident that his side can bounce back from their defeat to Sevilla.

‘You ask a lot in one question, but of course I always think about ‘do I refresh?’ because I have a squad’, Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference.

‘But also I know that in this season when we had bad defeats, bad performances, we bounced back. I am convinced and I have strong belief we can do it again because we have the experience.’

The manager also gave his thoughts on some of United’s recent poor results.

Roberto De Zerbi believes that his side deserve to play against an opponent like United in the FA Cup

‘First of all you have to acknowledge. It’s the truth, we have to do better and I know that. I have to teach the players that they [need to] do better in such circumstances and such occasions. We have to do better with such expectations because, as you said, the demands are on this team and because we are Manchester United, [they] are high and we have to deal with it, we have to improve it. I have to teach the players and the players have to step up.’

As for Brighton, De Zerbi believes that his side ‘deserve’ to play against an opponent like United in the semi-final

‘I think they are improving in every situation and in every part of the pitch. They have very important players and they have a very clear idea’, De Zerbi said at his pre-match press conference.

‘I like them in terms of quality of play and tactical approach. For us it’s good to compete with them. The best solution is to be focused on ourselves and what we can do to win the game, while respecting that Manchester United is one of the best teams in the UK. We deserve to play this type of game in the semi-final.’

Brighton have enjoyed a successful season so far, with the side aiming to progress through to the final

Prediction

After their result on Thursday, United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they play Brighton.

With the return of Rashford, it certainly helps United’s chances of progressing through to the final.

However, it is fair to say that Brighton will cause havoc throughout the 90 minutes.

The Seagulls have been a joy to watch all season so far. If Mitoma is causing problems for United’s defence early on, it could be a long day at the office for the Red Devils.

Prediction: 2-1 Brighton
