Manchester City 6-0 Burnley
Burnley battled well before Erling Halaand’s quick-fire double before half-time. The Norwegian striker got another after the break to complete another hat-trick. Julian Alvarez got in on the action with two goals.
It’s a nightmare return to the Eithad for Vincent Kompany but his attention will return to securing promotion to the Premier League.
90+1′ – The Burnley striker gets the first booking of the game for kicking at Laporte in frustration.
89′ – De Bruyne has been superb this evening and he goes off to a round of applause as Grealish takes his place for the final few minutes.
83′ – Bastien beats Gomez with ease down Burnley’s right side before delivering a low cross which Barnes can’t get a good connection on as his strike goes well wide of the near post.
77′ – Maatsen and Da Silva make way for Taylor and Bastien.

73′ – The goals just keep coming! De Bruyne finds Alvarez with a superb through ball and the Argentinean beats Beyer easily before unleasing a powerful strike past Peacock-Farrell.
69′ – It’s way too easy. De Bryne instigates the move as he finds Foden, whose cross is palmed out by Peacock-Farrell before Palmer guides the ball into an almost empty net.
66′ – The changes continue for City. Phillips and Gomez come in for Rodri and Lewis.
63′ – Pep Guardiola rolls the changes as Haaland and Dias make way for Palmer and Akanji.
62′ – It’s total dominance from City. Mahrez finds De bruyne with a reverse pass and the Belgian lays it for Alvarez to score from close-range.
59′ – The Norwegian just can’t stop scoring. Mahrez finds Foden, who unleashes a shot from the left. Foden’s strike comes of the post but Haaland is there to sweep it home.
That’s now eight goals in five days.
56′ – Haaland controls Oretga’s long pass and beats Beyer with ease before cutting in and unleashing a shot which Peacock-Farrell saves well.
54′ – Zaroury is caught napping on Burnley’s left side as Walker delivers a low cross. But Mahrez is denied by Peacock-Farrell from point blank range.
49′ – Burnley just can’t seem to get in behind City’s high line, which has done the hosts wonders this evening. The Clarets will have to come up with a solution if they’re to get back into this match.
46′ – City get us back underway at the Etihad.
For Burnley, Barnes and Cork replace Foster and Gudmundsson.
The Man City striker joins an illustrious list after scoring his 40th and 41st goals of the season. To think that there’s still a large chunk of the season to go…
Burnley were in this for the majority of the half but two goals in two minutes and 57 seconds by Haaland has put this match almost out of the Clarets’ reach.
The Norwgian striker looks disgruntled as he heads down the tunnel.
45′ – Tella loses the ball and fouls Foden in his attempt to win it back. Foden whips in a superb free-kick but no one is there to make contact with the ball.
40′ – The two quick-fire goals has taken the sting out of the game but Burnley are continuing to battle as they enjoy a spell of good possession. Not long to go until the half-time break.
35′ – It’s too easy. De Bruyne finds Foden on the left and the midfielder picks out Haaland with a pinpoint low cross for the striker to guide it into the back of the net.
It’s Haaland’s seventh goal in five days. Unstoppable.
32′ – There it is. Haland knocks back a long ball to Alvarez, who returns the ball with a through ball to put the striker through on goal. The Norwegian nicks it around Peacock-Farrellwith with the outside of his boot to find the net.
25′ – Vitinho just about gets away with it as he brings down Foden on the edge of the box. Had that been a few meters forward, the referee would have pointed to the spot.
22′ – Burnley are frustrating the hosts and Walker displays this as he brings down Zaroury.
The Clarets almost get in behind with Tella but Dias’ last-ditch tackle rescues City.
18′ – The first shot on target goes to Burnley as Tella unleashes one from distance but Ortega dives to his right to deny the midfielder.
13′ – Man City have continued to dominate the ball with 80% possession but we’re yet to see a shot from either side. Burnley’s shape has been excellent so far as they keep forcing the hosts back.
10′ – Roberts lunges into the England international but gets away without booking.
Burnley are using a high press and it’s causing a few problem for the hosts
7′- Ortega plays a great ball from the back, Foden pulls it back for Rodri, whose effort from 25 yards is blocked by Gudmundsson.
3′ – It’s all Man City at the moment. They’re moving the ball around well as De Bruyne finds Walker on the right with a lovely through ball before the right-back’s cross is blocked.
1′ – Burnley get us underway at the Etihad in what promises to be an intrguing FA Cup tie.
Let’s remind ourselves how these two sides made it to this stage of the competition.
For Man City it has been far from a coasting, who have had to overcome top-tier rivals Chelsea and Arsenal before a comfortable win over Bristol City to reach the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile the visitors beat Bournemouth, Ipswich and Fleetwood to set up a meeting with the reigning Premier League champions.
Both set of players are currently out for their warm-ups as kick-off approaches.
It’s fair to say Pep Guardiola is going for it with such a strong team!

Erling Haaland made some history against RB Leipzig after scoring five goals at the Etihad to take his tally for the season to 39 goals in 36 games.
Can he add to that against the Championship leaders this evening?
Pep Guardiola said facing Vincent Kompany on the touchline on Saturday night will remind him of how old he has become.
The Manchester City master will go head to head with his former title-winning captain for the first time since Kompany hung up his boots in 2019 and went into management, where he has been a roaring success at Burnley.
The visitors make a three changes from the midweek away win at Hull City.
Peacock-Farrell, Ameen Al-Dakhil and Lyle Foster come into the side.
Pep Guardiola makes a number of changes from the team that thrashed RB Leipzig 7-0 in midweek.
